From reform cosmetics to beloved classics

Heliotrop was established in 1965 as a revolutionary brand of the company elektrobio. Back then, synthetic ingredients were the norm. Against this backdrop, Heliotrop launched the first plant-based moisturising system care – the result of 35 years of research and experience in the development of natural cosmetics.

The beginning: elektrobio

Founded in 1925, elektrobio was dedicated to developing body care products based on the concept of ‘biochemical therapy’ created by Dr Schüssler, one of the leading pioneers of naturopathy in the 19th century. Some of the first products to be launched were biochemical soaps. From the very outset, the company was also firmly committed to the life reform movement, which aimed to combat the often devastating effects of industrialisation and enable people to lead a healthier lifestyle. One of the cornerstones of this movement was represented by an unusual business idea: the creation of health food shops in 1897. elektrobio chose these specialist shops as its sales channel and named its products ‘reform cosmetics’. Over the following decades, a prosperous symbiosis between health food shops and elektrobio cosmetics emerged. The shelves of health food shops also began to feature Heliotrop products, and the brand continued to grow.

More than 50 years of active cosmetics

Today, the brand looks back on more than 50 years of history. Over 80 years of intensive research, numerous patents and countless developments lie between those first soaps and the range sold today. Nevertheless, the goal of using natural ingredients to stimulate the natural functions of the skin and protect it against external damage has always remained at the forefront. Today, Heliotrop is a firm and extremely effective classic that has become an inherent part of the product range in health food shops. Seven exclusive facial ranges join products for the body and for the hair to offer anti-ageing products to meet the most exacting demands.

Two pioneers in natural cosmetics

Since 2007, Heliotrop has been part of Logocos Naturkosmetik AG, and thus belongs to a corporate group that has been shaping the face of modern natural cosmetics for 35 years. As part of the LOGOCOS family, Heliotrop has become a premium active cosmetic range with top natural and organic quality. Since 2011, many Heliotrop compositions have been revised and reformulated based on the latest scientific knowledge.
